Service Fees and Membership Rates


  • Family (household members) $20.00
  • Adult (18+) $15.00
  • Children (0-17) $5.00

Non-Residents must add $60.00 to the fee. Non-Residents are patrons residing in a municipality that is not a member of the Northern Lights Library System. Residents who do not reside in the Town of Vermilion or the County of Vermilion are asked to register at their local library.

Members are responsible for all materials charged out on their membership. If an item is lost, returned damaged, or overdue, the member must pay the fines/fees before any other items may be checked out.

*Vermilion Public Library honours the Alberta Library Card and Lakeland College Student Cards.  


Each person can borrow, at one time up to 25 items of the following: books, magazines, DVD's, audio books, compact discs.

Books can be borrowed for 3 weeks

Magazines can be borrowed for 1 week

CDs and DVDs can be borrowed for 1 week

Audiobooks and TV Series can be borrowed for 3 weeks

You can reserve any material that is normally allowed to leave the library.

You can renew any material you have out once, in person or by phone, as long as the item isn't overdue and no one else has placed a reserve on the item.

At times libraries charge fees for sending interlibrary loans (interlibrary loans that are not part of the TRACpac system). This cost must be paid by the patron when the item is picked up at Vermilion Public Library.

Each member is responsible for all materials charged out on his/her membership card. Out of courtesy, TRACPAC will place an automated call/email to patrons if items are overdue. Overdue charges apply whether a patron receives a courtesy call/email or not.

Patrons who have more than $10.00 in outstanding fines/fees will have their membership privelleges suspended until the fines/fees are paid.
