A Month Full of Programming
I've had a hard time getting to the computer this month as it's been a lot of hands-on programming work. We're almost half done our two fall sessions of Computers for Novices, and just finished a very successful fall session of Kids Connection (a new session has been plannned for January 13th). In between, we've had a story hour with the Day Home Providers, been to Clandonald School to promote the library, and hosted another successful book sale fundraiser for library. Gearing Up for Family History Information Day

Summer Reading Program Wraps Up
Thanks to all our junior detectives who did a fantastic job of reading and solving our 'mini mysteries' in this year's Sunbeam Summer Reading Program. Thirteen kids read 160 books! And thanks to our local Subway, Lakeland College, and the Yaceyko family for donating some great prizes. See you all next year!
A Cup of Coffee in Support of Alzheimers
We are once again planning to host a Coffee Break to help promote awareness of Alzheimer's disease and raise funds to support the services of the Alzheimer Society. Join us on Tuesday, September 22nd for a cup of coffee in support of this worthy cause.
Hockey Draft Night
Gather your friends for our first-ever evening of hockey-mania on Thursday, September 24th at 6:30 pm! Impress your friends by picking the best team of NHLers. We'll be using a box draft format, along with a few "wild cards". Please phone or email us to register. There is a $5 charge which will go towards prizes and refreshments.

Anyone wishing to sign up for our Fall Programs can do so at the library or at the Fall Organizational Awareness & Registration Day at Lakeland Mall. This is a great time to enroll your preschoolers in Kids Connection or your tweens and teens in our Youth Hockey Pool Night.
Alberta Arts Days in September
Municipal Affairs minister Ray Danyluk has challenged Alberta Libraries to become "key celebration sites" for Alberta Arts Days. And not to be left out of the action, Vermilion Public Library will be showcasing works by members of the Vermilion Community Art Club throughout the month of September.
