A Hunting We Will Go
The library is home to a few new and old resources for the gun and hunting enthusiast. For someone fairly unfamiliar with the sport, I found a few interesting tidbits from some of our books. It’s hard to imagine Medicine Hat as a popular home of the majestic grizzly bear, but this was indeed the case at one time, according to author Jack Ondrack in Big Game Hunting in Alberta (1985) . We are about to shelve a new selection of nonfiction DVDs produced and/or released by the National Film Board of Canada (All of these include Public Performance Rights, which means that the video may be legally shown in a classroom or group setting for non-commercial purposes) See our Home page for titles. A Popular Pursuit
It seems as though the economy is not the only thing booming in Canada! Library use is up, as described in this article by Shannon Proudfoot for Canwest News Service. Looking to be on the waiting list for a new release? Pick up a "Hotlist" and place a hold before the book even hits the shelves. Aren't sure what to read? Ask the staff for a recommended read, or browse the Novelist database.
Library Closed Saturdays in August
Just a reminder that the library will be closed for all of the Saturdays in August. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Fun in the Van
What letters or words do you see when you look out the window of the car on billboards, road signs, vehicles or buildings? Print off your own copies, or pick a few up at the library.
