Make new friend...with a book

This is a new program that lets our younger patrons enjoy the same experience as our Blind Date with a Book.  We've wrapped a selection of juvenile and young adult books and attached a brief description.  You can't judge our books by their cover!  When you choose a book to take with you we will enter you into our draw for a gift certificate.  Open to those 8 to 17.  November 18 to 22.

Knitting: The Next Step

A course designed to introduce participants to knitting in the round with double-pointed needles. We will also introduce increasing and decreasing. Participants will be required to bring one skein of worsted-weight yarn. The $10 registration fee will include needles. Please preregister and prepay at the library to secure your spot.

Blackout Poetry Contest

Blackout Poetry Contest 1.  Pick an article from the newspaper or photocopy a page from a book. 2.  Find words to make an interesting poem and circle them.  Remember that they will be read from left to right and top to bottom. 3.  Using a black marker or paint, cover the rest of the words.  Have fun and draw a picture if you like. On the Cutting Edge with Ed Storch

Join us on Canada Day for Knife-making Presentations in our parking lot. Internet Applications Course

This is a five week course including Kijiji, Facebook, Photoshop Express and backing up your computer.  Tuesdays 5:30 to 7:00 pm, Starting Feb 11 to March 11.  Please pre-register; space is limited.  Cost $50.

Knitting for Beginners

This course is intended for those just starting out in knitting, and will include casting on procedures and simple stitches.  A starter kit will include the needles and wool required for a simple project.  Ages 10 and up.  The course will run for 4 Thursdays starting February 6th, and the time will be 4:00 to 5:00pm or 7:00 to 8:00pm depending on interest.  Pre-registration is required, $12 is due upon registration.  Space is limited.

Mitten Tree

We are collecting store bought or handmade mitts, scarves and hats to decorate our mitten tree.  All items will then be donated to Santa Anonymous who will distribute them to children in need.  Pickup date is December 18th.  Thank you for your contributions.

Alberta Prairie C.O.W. Bus
