Sunbeam Summer Reading Club

Congratulations to all the participants of the Sunbeam Summer Reading Club for filling your summer with words: in all, over 30 kids read over 550 books, including 29 "classics", which were our feature! And thank you to all the donors, Dicke's Wicker and Cottage Crafts, the Yaceyko family, MV Camp Operations, Subway, Sammy's Family Restaurant, and VHQ; your generosity helped put a smile on the faces of many children this summer.

The Beginnings of Our New Young Adult Non-Fiction Section

What letters or words do you see when you look out the window of the car on billboards, road signs, vehicles or buildings? "Seeing Words" is just one game in this series developed by Washington Learning Systems to help make the miles in the van roll along smoother while encouraging language and literacy development. Print off your own copies, or pick a few up at the library.

There is enough variety in topics you are sure to find something of interest. You'll find many of these titles on display for the next month or so at the library.

Book a Library Tour!

Combine language arts, science and social studies in a lesson about our First Nations people. Join us between Tuesday, May 27th to Tuesday, June 10th to learn about colour in an aboriginal talking circle! We’ve just added two new magazine subscriptions to our juvenile/young adult collection. Sports Illustrated Kids is for kids who love sports. The magazine includes action photos, easy-to-read stories about star athletes, helpful instructional tips from the pros, and humor, comics, and activities.
